I wrote this on the spur of the moment, because I’d just skimmed through a tutorial on how to write (great) fanfiction. There’s enough of those going around, so I won’t write you another one.
Instead, I thought I’d write an off-hand little tutorial on how to review a fanfic – or other kind of art, but foremost fanfics, since writing is the only field of art I can claim to know anything about.
Sounds dumb, eh? x) I think it could be useful, both here on dA and on other forums where people post to get feedback on their art.
This is in no way an exhaustive manual over anything, but some personal reflections based on experience. I write, so I know how much work it takes; I review, and I know how much writers appreciate reviews that mirror an understanding of the effort they put into their work.
